Last major update 6+ years ago. Use direct requests/httpxAPI calls instead. Seesignnow-sdk-advisorskill for guidance.SDK selection guidance: Not all SDKs are equally maintained. Before recommending an SDK, consider its status:
- Active — safe to use as primary integration method (PHP)
- Moderate — usable for core operations but may not cover newer API features; consider a hybrid approach with direct HTTP for newer endpoints (Node.js, Java, C#)
- Stale — do not recommend; use direct HTTP calls instead (Python)

Postman collection:
- SignNow Public Collection — complete API collection for testing
- Embedded Signing Test Collection — focused on embedded signing workflows

What the sample app demonstrates (PHP):
The main sample app is a web form application where you can:
- Enter signer's first name, last name, and a comment
- Upload a PDF document to SignNow
- Add fillable fields programmatically
- Create an embedded signing invite
- Generate a signing link for iframe embedding
- Signer completes the document in-app
Configuration required:
SIGNNOW_API_HOST=https://api-eval.signnow.com SIGNNOW_API_BASIC_TOKEN=your_basic_token SIGNNOW_API_USERNAME=your_email SIGNNOW_API_PASSWORD=your_password SIGNNOW_SIGNER_EMAIL=signer@example.com -
Getting started with any sample:
- Create a SignNow developer account at signnow.com/developers
- Create an application in the API Dashboard to get Client ID and Client Secret
- Use sandbox credentials for testing (
api-eval.signnow.com) - Configure environment variables with your credentials
- For paid features, you need a SignNow subscription; for testing, a developer account works
-
When to recommend sample apps:
- User is starting a new SignNow integration from scratch → point to sample app as skeleton
- User wants to see a working embedded signing flow → PHP sample app
- User needs SDK-specific examples → point to the relevant SDK repository
- User wants to test API calls interactively → Postman collection
- User is evaluating SignNow → sample app provides fastest path to a working demo
-
